Special Features As muntjacs mature, the upper canine teeth are elongated into 'tusks' that curve outward from the lips. Male muntjac deer have antlers that are shed periodically. Social Structure & Behavior In the wild, muntjacs are usually found alone or in groups of fewer than 4 individuals. Gestation for pregnant females is 210 days (7 months). Young muntjacs remain hidden in dense jungle growth until they are able to move about with their dams. |
