Fast Facts:

  • Genets are long and lean with a tail usually at least as long as the body.

  • They appear catlike, except for their longer faces and have a dark spotted or marbling pattern over a cream to buff colored background.

Special Features

  • They are extremely flexible and can get into small spaces.
  • They have a mane on their backs that stands erect when they are frightened. They also excrete a musky odor when frightened.


Social Structure & Behavior

A solitary and nocturnal animal Genet's are excellent climbers and stealthy hunters.

Reproduction:
Gestation is 10-11 weeks resulting in a lLitter of 1-3 kittens that are born blind and helpless. Weaned at 8 weeks
