Domestic Sheep

Scientific Name: Ovis aries
Classification: Phylum Chordata, Class Mammalia, Order Artiodactyla, Family Bovidae
Status: Because these sheep are a domesticated animal, populations are considered stable.
Range: Domestic sheep are raised in all parts of the world.
Diet: Grass, weeds, hay and grain
Size: Weight: 100 to 225 pounds for females, 150 to 350 pounds for males
Lifespan: 13 years

Special Features:

Sheep can bite off grass much closer to the ground than cattle and can live for long periods of time without water.
