Special Features

These cats have black stripes on long orange fur which act as camouflage.
They have retractable claws.
Loose belly skin allows the tiger to be kicked by prey without being hurt.
Hind legs longer than front legs to facilitate jumping.
Excellent swimmers but not good climbers.

Behavior

Solitary hunters. Territorial. Nocturnal.

Breeding & Care of Young
Mating season December through January. Females in the wild will only produce litters every 3-4 years. 2-6 cubs in a litter. Cubs stay with the tigress for 3 years. Gestation 100-108 days. Sexual maturity 4-5 years for males and 3-4 years for females.
