What Do Zoo Teens Do?

Environmental Education -Zoo Teens have the opportunity to join front staff working directly with our guests. Friendly interaction with staff has proven to enhance the visitors experience. Zoo Teens will develop skills in public speaking and interaction that will transcend to any job field.

Zoo Teens will explore the exciting field of environmental education and have the opportunity to develop skills in organization and leadership. Plus learn and teach how animals live, eat, communicate and other fun facts. (Some small animal handling may be involved.)

Summer Camp Assistant- Actively participate in various teaching techniques with children, ages four through twelve, as we spread the message about the plight of plants and animals using fun interactive activities and crafts. Overnights and weekday day camps offered.

Education Program Assistant- Experience the excitement of bringing an educational program to life. Assist with on-grounds as well as outreach programs covering specific topics.

Visitor Experience - Learn interesting facts about the animals and cultures featured in our Wildlife Museum and share these facts with museum guests using interactive touch carts. Guide guests in their discovery of culture using games, books, and computer activities in Hideaway Hollow.

Giraffe Feeding Station- Involve visitors at this interactive station that is fun and fast-paced. Learn about giraffes as you assist our guests in feeding the giraffes. Answer questions and talk to our guests about these beautiful animals using a giraffe-themed Touch Cart.

Special events- Assist a variety of zoo staff at our special events like the “Father's Day Car Show", “Summer Splash”, "Grandparents Weekend", and “Pumpkin PaZOOla”. Have fun while assisting guests with crafts, game activities and concessions while improving your personal communication skills.

ZooTeenThe Zoo Teen Program is a fun and educational activity for your teen. We strive to provide a quality program and, to that end, we need your assistance.

We emphasize to the teens that they are making a commitment to us and their fellow Zoo Teens, but it takes your support for them to fulfill their obligation. We expect the teen, not the parent/guardian, to initiate and maintain all contact.

We get more applications than we have space to accommodate. Please, encourage your teen to take the application and interview seriously. They help us select the participants.

Thank you,
The Zoo Teen Program
