Ape or Monkey?
Many people do not know the difference between a monkey and an ape.The easiest way to tell if a primate is a monkey or an ape is to look for a tail.
Monkeys have them, apes do not. That's right, even chimpanzees do not have tails though much of what we read and see refers to chimpanzees as monkeys. That is incorrect.

Don't Call me a Monkey!
Apes have mobile, rotary shoulder joints which allows them to brachiate and hang from their arms.
Monkeys run and jump along the tops of branches or on the ground using their arms and legs.
Apes are also larger and more intelligent than other primates. They are able to make and use tools and solve complex problems.
Apes depend more on learned behaviors for their survival, staying with their mothers sometimes until the age of eight, the longest of any of the primates. I guess there is a lot to learn living in the jungle!
