What’s That You’re Wearing?
Exploring Conservation through Art
March 21 – 25, 2011

The Education Department at RHWA is offering an educational arts program for middle school students March 21st through March 25th (Spring Break) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The program entitled "What's That You're Wearing?" is designed for students to explore through art how their buying behavior impacts the environment.

Each day of the camp will have a different theme all related to the program goal culminating in a final project where students will design and produce a large hanging tapestry that will incorporate the different media from the previous days' programs. By integrating art into the study of conservation, and creating their own environmentally-conscious materials, students will learn about the effects that their own behavior has and how they can influence the future.

This five-day camp is being offered to middle school students (6th through 8th grade) for $50. Size is limited and participants will be selected through an application process. Applications can be picked up at Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure, The City, the Center for Theatre Arts at Salina Community Theatre, or can be downloaded below.

Applications are due March 9th by 5:00 p.m. Accepted participants will be notified by March 11th. For more information about this groundbreaking arts and conservation camp, contact Anita Butler at (785) 827-9488 x 117 or e-mail anita@rollinghillswildlife.com.
